The Shaping of Greenfield

Two maps have been prepared for this publication which illustrate the evolution of Greenfield's boundaries.  The first shows the ancient Town of Deerfield and the Greenfield of 1753, which included today's Town of Gill.
The second "Shaping" map shows changes to Greenfield's boundaries over the next century and a half.

First, Gill was removed in 1793. Then, in 1838, a small tract was removed and attached to Bernardston (4 acres around a water- powered mill site ), and finally, in 1896, the Cheapside section of Deerfield, with river access, was added to Greenfield.
