Early Maps
of
Montague, Massachusetts
1715-1914

1715 Map shows Sawmill River

The oldest map in "Early Maps of Montague" is a 1715 map of Sunderland, photographed at the Massachusetts Archives. At that time Sunderland was a much larger town, and included a lot of land which was to become Montague 40 years later. This excerpt from that very old map shows the Sawmill River and Mount Toby (here spelled "Tobe").
