This is a complete reproduction of the Map of Hillsboro
County, New Hampshire, 1858. The original map, pictured on the preceding
page, is a large wall map measuring some twenty-five square feet. It is
reproduced here in its entirety on 60 separate pages.
True to the original, orientation is to magnetic north. (In a
subsequent printing, the same map was oriented to true north,) The twenty-five
pages of town maps are reproduced at the original scale of one and one-quarter
inches to the mile. Village detail maps are enlarged by one-half for clarity
(the "downtown" portion of Manchester is reduced for the present
format, and that of Nashua is at the original scale). Some retouching has been
necessary to improve legibility. The eleven engravings are reproduced at the
scale of the original.
This folio reproduction of the old Hillsborough county map
supplements the 1981 reproduction of the Map of Cheshire County, 1858 also
published by Old Maps.
