Bird's Eye Views
Three of Brattleboro's bird's eye views are included.

The 1856 view by John Batchelder shows a romantic view of Brattleboro, with a solitary hunter overlooking the town from the slope of Wantastiquet Mountain.
The 1876 view, by Bailey & Hazen, shows the downtown area from an almost vertical viewpoint - as if the artist were in a balloon suspended above Brattleboro.

Click here for a close-up of few buildings, from the 1876 view.

The 1886 view shows a much more developed Brattleboro. The author, Lucien Burleigh, was also the author of views of nearby Hinsdale, NH, and Bellows Falls, VT.

(Note:  Maps are a bit blurry because they have been downsized for fast web display)
