1749 - Fort Dummer The original
map of Fort Dummer - the first settlement in Brattleboro - will be
reprinted for the first time in this book. This hand-drawn
1749 map was made by surveyors who were sent here by the Governor
of New Hampshire. After years of wrangling, New Hampshire agreed
to take over the support of the fort from Massachusetts.
