The entire 1984 reproduction atlas
has been scanned to this CD ROM. The original atlas (now out of print) was
an 11" x 14" softcover book. This CD is a complete
full-scale copy.
The entire atlas (58 pages plus
the cover) is in the main folder (directory) as a series of 59 files. Each
file name begins with a number corresponding with the atlas' page number.
The town/map name is abbreviated within the file name. For example, page
7, Brattleboro, has the file name 07wd-BRT.jpg ).
The files in the main folder/dircetory were scanned at 300 dpi and then
reduced in quality for quick viewing. There are two additional
folders with higher quality images A second folder (directory) has
the 300 dpi images at full quality. The file sizes are about 1
megabyte each. The third folder contains 400 dpi scans of just the
colored entire town maps, the maps which are hardest to read on the
originals. The 400 dpi scans are very large files. Some readers may not
have computers fast enough to deal with these
files.
The maps can be viewed with many
common file viewers including those shipped with Windows. We used the
Adobe® PhotoDeluxe® software to set up the pages.
The scanned maps are quite legible
on-screen. Even the finest text can be read.
