|Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps
|Remarkably detailed maps of
Brattleboro were made in the late 1800s - early 1900s for the purposes
of fire insurance. The maps
show details of building construction in the built-up areas of the village -
with special attention to industrial sites. The original maps are
rare - they were not mass-produced and few copies survive. We have
acquired color scans and photographs from copies at the Library of Congress
and other repositories.
The first page of each set has an elaborate title. Here is
the 1925 title to the 14 sheets of that year. To the right is a detail
of part of the downtown area in 1925.
We are pleased to make color copies of

some cases the smallest text will be hard to read or blurred, but the
quality is better than seen on the web site. The prints are made on
11" x17" paper, and are shipped by US mail.
