Estey Organ Factory Sites on the Old Maps
Excerpts from a series of historical maps of Brattleboro, VT

1852  Map           1st  Site
The building labelled "J. Estey" is the first Estey Organ manufacturing site.  When this map was published in 1852, Jacob Estey began his long career in the organ business.  A predecessor company, then owned by Riley Burdett and Edwin carpenter,  was renting space in this building in 1851.  Then, a year later, Jacob acquired a half-interest in what was then the E.B. Carpenter Company.  North is at the top of this map and Main Street, not labeled, is the north-south swath in the middle.  Bridge Street is the road to the river and Hinsdale, NH.  Mill Street is the small road we now call Arch Street.
Complete names of the maps are listed here.
