The remarkably detailed 1844 Map of Massachusetts by Simeon
Borden on a CDROM.
The Borden map was a very
accurate map for its time, being based on high-quality
trigonometric surveying of the entire state. Major roads are
shown throughout Massachusetts as are village centers and 1000s
of placenames.
This is a very valuable document of
Massachusetts history which has not been easily available to
study until this publication.
This reproduction is a PDF
file with bookmarks leading to county portions of the main map.
The CD does not include the geological map and other elements |
|
The
reproduction includes all the main body of the map. It
does not include the Geological inset map and other material.
The Geolocial Map is available as a separate print on the

This segment shows the village of Sandwich on Cape Cod. Note
the entry "Glass Houses" which refers to the glass manufacturing
facilities which were a prominent part of this area's history. |
